We are happy to announce that Holt will be offering the Journey of Hope family camp experience for adopted children and their parents once again this summer — in both Chicago, Illinois (June 26-28) and Eugene, Oregon (July 24 and 25)!

The Trust-Based Relational Intervention approach to parenting was created and developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. This parenting intervention is research- and evidence-based, providing parents with practical tools, techniques and strategies to respond in a connected manner to their children’s needs. This is an attachment-rich and trauma-based intervention, keeping in mind a child’s early life experiences.

At Journey of Hope camp, parents will be assisted by TBRI practitioners and clinicians in implementing these TBRI skills. Prior to camp, parents will need to have received TBRI training and they have several different options to do so. The families will also get to participate in group EAGALA equine therapy at the Illinois camp and practice skills with therapy dogs at the Oregon camp. This is a great experience for adopted children and their parents. Details and application requirements are outlined in the links below.
